WyomingConcealed Carry Permit & Reciprocity
Wyoming is a permitless (constitutional) carry state — since 2011 for Wyoming residents, and since July 1, 2021 for any U.S. resident who may lawfully possess a firearm. Effective July 1, 2026, permitless carry extends to residents 18 or older. The Wyoming Concealed Firearm Permit (CFP), issued by the Attorney General's Division of Criminal Investigation (with the application filed through the county sheriff for fingerprinting), remains available and is worth holding for out-of-state reciprocity; it requires a firearms familiarity course, fingerprints, a $64 fee, and is valid for five years. Open carry is lawful without a permit, and Wyoming has no duty to inform. Wyoming recognizes the permits of 35 states on a mutual basis (the other state must recognize Wyoming permits and the permit must be valid statewide).
